As part of my "difficult to shoot" nature series. What's your first reaction to the image?
The bird was not in flight but photographed at the local bird gardens where he is a captive raptor reared from a chick. What made this difficult is the BG. The place is riddled with buildings, fences, poles, oddly coloured walls, people in brightly coloured clothes. To get this as natural as possible took some planning and timing. Find the wall, locate myself at the right angle, compose and shoot at a large-ish aperture and keep him sharp but the wall blurred and oof. Keeping humans out of the shot was also a challenge with the tiniest windows of opportunity to click.

Whilst I prefer to shoot in the wild this is perfect for training and cuts costs. As long as you tell people you shot it in captivity it's OK!

Beautiful bird - I actually did think that it was flying till I read your notes. You did a great job of conquering all those obstacles.
