I don't know this kid - just found him wandering around in a great used book store (the entire place looks like this - books piled everywhere!) and asked him to model. But I can tell you he did NOT have to take off any earplugs nor did he need any posing instructions - he was immediately at home in that chair with a book. The light was quite low so I was shooting (for the challenge - this is not a shoehorn LOL) on a tripod and had a slow shutter speed, so I said, "Just sit very still." He replied, "No problem - this book [which he had just picked up] is pretty interesting!"

albrix suggested black and white would be better for this. I had one ready and very nearly went with it, but in the end chose to take the saturation down on the color version.

Good for him. Is this becoming a lost art? I wish my kids would sit around and read like this. I imagine that this has to be quite a peaceful moment.
