 Taken on a 5 night hike in the Drakensberg mountains when RianBotes, myself and 3 others including 2 photographers braved some interesting weather forecasts and headed out on what promised to be a great photography trip.

Firstly - No one went missing in the mountains when we went... but on the first night we were there we did a bit of night time hiking in thick mist and to be honest we did deviate off the intended route a bit. Realising we were heading in the wrong direction, we set up camp on a road at midnight and resumed the hike the next morning, which is when this shot was captured. The though of safety was always in the back of our minds and when I thought of terrible it would be to lose one's way in the mountains and not know how to make it back to safety... well that is how my title was dreamed up.

A great trip was had by all and some awesome images were captured. I'm sure there will be a few from this trip proudly hung on my walls and hopefully the walls of some others too.

Special thanks to Rian for keeping us all safe and guiding us on a wonderful hike.

This was my 10 for this challenge, I expected it above 9th for sure.

Well done Steve. This image def gave me the lost feeling and and has a sense of danger lurking all around. I suppose more people in frame would have contributed to the "search party" idea playing in the Headline article theme of the challenge but that never crossed my mind as we were shooting.. I def never intended on getting lost..lol

Top 10 - well done Steve. Love the picture. You can see how easy it would be to get lost in that mist. Glad you had the good sense to stay where you were and wait till the morning.

nice shot of a guy on the cliff, but I don't sense any urgency of a SAR underway to find the missing.

Gorgeous photo. I'm not so sure about what looks like some vignette that that seems from the image away a little bit.
