Ahh, I love Barbies. Never had one as a kid but now as an adult I have 3 or 4, and I LOVE doing things like this to them ;-) Let's face it, Barbie wardrobe is usually very minimal and she is a highly unrealistic, over-sexualized doll. So I have no problem having her portray that infamous scene as Sharon Stone's infamous Karen Trammell in the 1985 movie Basic Instinct.
Chair is an inflatable Barbie chair painted in black craft paint, as somehow a clear pink one didn't look quite right. The pedestal it's sitting on, as it's somewhat low on its own, is a slice of water noodle also painted with matte black craft paint. Dark blue cloth atop au upside-down box, scooched forward so Barbie is about 3ft from the back of the Closet of Doom. Blue LEDs positioned about 8 in off the floor provide the bakclight.
Used Flash Gordon, handheld at 1/8 power, angled away from bg, to bounce light off all around Barbie.
Barbie's hair is tied back in a long straight ponytail as I didn't want to scalp her. This time, anyway. The dress is in fact a Nurse Barbie smock turned backwards, the sleeves cut off. Used quite a few safety pins to get it to fit her right. Then used mounting putty to make shoes for her - if you don't look too closely they pass pretty well for pumps!
Camera on tripod.

This one is humorous, it just sparkles with fun yet somehow has that edge to remain serious at the same time.
Surprised it did not crack top 10. |
