Greetings from the Critique Club :)
Anna, I really like your choice of subject for this photo... The lighting is also nearly perfect on this image. Your song title seems to integrate very nicely with your subject as well.
The diagonal orientation of your subject provides a nice composition in this image. There are only two items that I would possibly change here that would make this image stronger.
1 - The image is a bit too small. Your DiMAGE 7 should allow you to produce a larer image. In macro photos, details are very important and some of the detail in this one is lost to the small size of the photo.
2 - More depth of field would have kept the lower front edge of your subject from being in soft focus. F3.5 is a fairly large aperture setting. I believe that F8.0 or so would have solve this problem very effectively...
Keep up the good work!

Your DOF is very small. I think I would have liked to have seen this whole thing in focus. The photo fits the title. I've never heard of the song, but I'll take your word for it. The angle and framing/cropping are nice. I like the way it is positioned in the frame. The lighting is good, and background is not distracting in any way. Good luck in the challenge. |

This image is a little small. The lower left corner of the image seems a little washed out, and the stem is not sharp. jgillard4 |

This is a quite nice photo. To me it looks like the depth of field is a little narrow - both the foremost and rearmost elements of the photo appear blurred. There is an explanation of DOF (depth of field) under the Learn->Tutorials section incase you are interested (although I realise you might have been limited by the camera used) |

I really like the way this image is life-sized - at least it is on my monitor!
Very simple, holds my interest. I am often a fan of shallow DOF, and I like that the tip is a little out of focus, but I think my preference on this one would be for just a touch more DOF.

I think that this should be bigger, with the pod off center, maybe in the lower left hand corner a bit. |

Neat shot, tomatilla, right? Seems small compared to the other pictures. No distracting background, but it makes it so very stark, lonely. I can't remember the song, but isn't it on the sad, lonely side, too? (if so, very good thing). Still, I get very little emotional connection to this pic. 6 Swash |

Trying to figure this out. By the title I gather there is something inside there. But what is is? Is this the way it grows. I don't recognize it, but am assuming you do and that it is a seed pod or something of that sort. Of course I don't recognize the song either. Who's it by? and when was it popular? I'll still give it a 6 because it is a clean clear photo that has good focus and cropping. PTL |

Nifty idea, but the left of the photo is a bit too much out of focus and I would prefer the shot to be a bit bigger. 5.
Take my comments for what they are worth for I am just a novice with a new camera. Dodo |

Very interesting idea!! Certainly very original - love the detail on the seed pod.
But this is a song?? |

Small, but that's okay. I'm not sure if I like or dislike the unfocused parts. |
