Location: Serengeti, Tanzania
Date: Jan 26, 2012
Aperture: 2.8

Date Uploaded: Jan 31, 2013

I was out on the Serengeti in Tanzania on a photo safari. One afternoon we stopped by the Boma of a small Masai tribe. This guy was around for only a moment. I'm not happy with the mechanics of the shot - I wish I would have gotten down on his eye level and composed a better background. But the number of flies on his face made this a compelling shot to enter.

#1.
Only giving out one ten in the entire challenge. This is it.
Reminds me of the famous Pulitzer prize photo by Kevin Carter. After seeing this image, I immediately lowered every other photo by one because this had to be the sole 10 in the challenge.

There's something simply compelling about this image. What will his future hold? I don't know, but it looks bleak.

I might have titled it something different, but that's irrelevant.

Looking at this photo gives me a feeling of repulsion... because it makes me sad, angry, etc. That is the power of this photo... I dont like it, because the subject fills me with emotion. This photo is great because it forces that emotion in the viewer.

This is horrifying and fascinating at once. I don't want to see this, yet I can't look away.

Ohh poor thing, with a bit of extra PP, this would of worked, especially in black and white!
