Nice mix of textures and surprisingly sharp given the slow shutter speed and very small aperture. In absolute terms, maximum sharpness is better at about f/8 or larger. Diffraction around the lens iris can significantly degrade resolution with f-stops of f/11 and smaller. Of course, sometimes the need to maximize dof overrides the diffraction issue. |

Wonderful details here and a good depth of field. The b&w conversion is great. |

I think the filters helped. Good B&W contrasts and patterns, straight feather lines coupled with crushed quartz. Photography, it's the thing to share :) |

Contrasting textures. The soft/harsh/straight lines of the feather vs. the rounded, just a bit angular shapes of the broken (what is that?) shells? glass? and sand. Beautiful way to show textures. I think texture photos work when the viewer can feel the picture, as if she were touching the surface with her hands. I can do that here. Beautiful. |

Beautiful placement of that feather, and the contrasts of textures are worth looking at for a long time. |

Wonderful textural contrasts - the details in the feather are particularly impressive, I think. I'm shooting with a friend this week, too - lucky me, lucky you :) |

Blowing Rocks. That sounds painful. ;-)
Definitely a lot of texture here. Very contrasty. |

Interesting choice t go for f/25 and 1" exposure. You would expect to see quite a bit of diffraction at this aperture, and at 1" you tripod had better be a sturdy one. I also don't see why you would need the larger DoF, especially in a case like this where you could have the subject perfectly in the plane of focus.
The result is a good picture, maybe with too harsh shadows for my liking (as soon as you invite people to comment you are bound to get conflicting responses all the time!), but a nice contrast between the softness of the feather (hardened by the contrast) and the hardness of the broken shells (?). |

Nice use of the rocks and plant leaf to add a variety of textures. I personally would like to see the shadows a bit darker but that is more of a personal preference. |

Chockablock with varied textures. I like the diagonal sweep of the feather across the image. Thank you for the link to the blog - beautiful photos. It must be great to have a group of friends with the same interests to go and explore with. |
