Very pretty, lovely colour and detail. I doubt the 800px on DPC does the D800 any justice. As a portfolio image however you can upload a larger version. Ever since I picked up my first film camera in the mid &)'s :) I've taken and enjoyed floral images. I do find the face of this orchid a bit too far to the right of the composition though.

Beautiful pinks, framed around the edges with the greens! I think what throws me off the most about the picture is that the orchid is not "looking at you"; it is sorta turning away, and to me, that works against the flow of the image. I like where you focused though, and I also like the DOF you used.

Can't help it, but I really dislike orchids (probably the only one in this world :-). But nevertheless, I think you really nailed this one, good focus, lovely colours.

Orchids are so beautiful, I have one now, but used to have as many as 10. For this shot, I might prefer to see more details with a deeper DOF, but it's nice to see so many in the same frame too.

I like the way you framed this - all too often we see a central composition, but here you have some nice diagonals, rule of thirds picture with, off course, a beautiful subject.

What a beautiful orchid. The colors are, as Alice had stated, perfect. I think having a slightly oof f/g and b/g really added to the composition. Having the orchid just at it's peak of perfection was another bonus. A gorgeous flower that would be a delight in anyone's portfolio.
