 Architectural Oddities & Embellishments is getting way too interesting. High on my list was this bldg where a friend of mine lives. Always in awe of that remarkable doorway, I went lurking this week and found these images. There's a detail here: and this is what the entire bldg looks like: .
Designed by one Herman Carl Baumann in 1925 in the Churrigueresque style there's quite a bit about H.C.'s life in this pflueger blog down about 4 paragraphs.
I had no idea this little self-imposed theme would be so interesting. But it is!

You are finding gems probably not documented in your local guides. Make one with GPS co-ords and sell it to architecture spotters (like train spotters) :) at the local tourist traps and Info booths!

I'm always drawn to intricate architecture, and this is so way out different from the main building design. Weird. Fun. Well spotted and taken.

Such a fancy place! I like how the yellow frames it at the bottom. The yellow is also reflected a bit at the top, and that, to me, brings it all together.

Here's a true oddity again. Watch how the fire escape constrasts to the masonry work. Great find. I'd try to open up the shadows a bit.

Oh Alice, you should put together a coffee table book on the fascinating architectural buildings in the city you know so well. I really appreciate the information you ass as well - amazing detail and I do like the color of the hedge in front.

This is really ornate! I hope you try again when the light is a bit better so you can get the top, too. I really want to see every last bit of detail :)
