Lovely sympathetic portrait. The lens used to be considered one of the sharpest Nikkors. Probably still is. |

I find lens in face portraiture very difficult to do. Especially if you know the person as you do here. I'd rather Paparazzi style from 100 meters with a 500mm on 1.5 crop factor DX :) I believe you've captured an essence which no doubt means more to you than to I. A smile. A slight knowing smirk? Why are the fingernails being hidden? A little self consciousness?
Lovely shot Ann. |

I like this man's expression. He looks like he likes you. The old lenses are a lot of fun to try, and often very good :) |

A lovely 'honest' portrait, nice softness and colours. Love the light in the eyes. |

Focus spot on, nice contrasting colours, a certain softness all around, good DOF, it really makes this one a beautiful portrait. |

Beautiful lens for a portrait, and well focused. Can't be more than few mm DoF, but is exatcly where it needs to be and works beautfully to focus the attention to the eyes, to bring the rest of tha face and hands together yet to separate the background, also helped by the different color. |

One would think that with the bright colors of her shirt that would be the first thing I noticed - but I was totally drawn in by her eyes - if people read my comments they know that my mind always goes to a story and in this photo I am wondering how she achieved such peace - as if she is remembering times that have brought her to this place. She has the same deep set eyes my mother had (I was robbed) and that might be contributing to the feeling of warmth and peace I am feeling. Thank you |

The lens seems to have a very nice softness wide open. It's funny you say the focus speed is terrible, I hardly ever use auto focus lenses anymore. Even if I have one on the camera, I usually shut off the AF. |

The depth of field is excellent - that very soft background really sets the subject off. Nice colors and a warm, approachable expression. |
