This is a new comment series for me, so please bear with me while I find my style!

This is one of my 9s - I like it a lot. Furthermore I think it enriches the DPC collective portfolio. Put simply, I wish we saw more stuff like this. Let me tell you why it pushes all the right buttons for me:
1. A  sempermarine image - it looks like some of his processing. I really like unusual portraits and this certainly meets that test.
2. The coloration and handling of the light is magnificent and rich. It has a tone-mapped look that can be taken too far - you haven't overdone it here though.
3. The expression - so matter of fact, with a good deal of confidence. I like that.
4. The hat - a nod to the old masters. Nice touch.
5. The inclusion of the yellow t-shirt - a reminder of the true up to date context.
6. The superb clarity of the eye - so important in portraits.
Overall, unusual and clever. I like that. |
