 Made use of my favorite macro technique for this shot: image stacking. A single shot at f/5.6 only gives a small focus area. And closing down the aperture too much hurts the sharpness. So I take shots with my new macro rail, and combine them with HeliconFocus (expensive but effective).

This is 10 images combined to get most of the flower in focus. To me, this gives a more unique view than the standard macro shot with a shallow depth of field.

I know Shez really enjoyed flowers, so it seemed appropriate to shoot a bright flower, full of color and love. That really describes her perfectly.

I love how the petals look like they're curling in to each other, comforting each other now that they've lost someone who loved their colour so much. Great job.
