Well captured! Macro is my favourite subject so I appreciate how tough a shot like this one is to take, I applaude you. When you get a chance take a look at my macro album at www.picturetrail.com/freezethemoment I'd welcome your critique.

Critique Club Critique
(1) COMPOSITION (CONTENT) â Excellent. The bee is perfectly positioned, with âemptyâ space to fly to.
(2) BACKGROUND â Great; perfect use of short DOF.
(3) CAMERA WORK ,TECHNICAL â Excellent. I donât know how you set this up, but Iâm impressed. If I were to nit-pick, Iâd pick on the reflections on the body. But I donât necessarily know how to change this for a live shot of a bee flying.
(4) DIGITAL PROCESSING ,TECHNICAL â No recommended changes.
(5) MY OPINION ON THE PHOTO â One of the best live flying bee shots Iâve seen. You should feel really good about this one.

I'd be nicer if it were a bumblebee...

Wow, great capture! Extremely difficult shot! (I know!!!) I think it would have been slightly cooler with a faster exposure, to make the wings more solid, but those wings move pretty fast, this could have been pretty fast anyway. Score bump from 8 to 9. Swash

that's not a bumble bee

Your obvious patience has been rewarded with an outstanding shot. It's a shame that there's a little glare on the bee's abdomen.

WOW! I can't imagine how you ever captured a flying bee like that. I liked the look of motion in the wings and the fact the back ground does not detract from the bee. I guess my only beef would be the light reflection given off in the abdomen, thorax and eyes and the far wing is not lit as well. But this is being picky. 7.

Take my comments for what they are worth for I am just a novice with a new camera. Dodo

Wow!! Speedy Gonzales has nothing on you!!!
Great detail & focus for what must have been an excruciatingly difficult shot!!!

Wow, that must have taken a lot of work to get! :) Interesting idea.

Excelent!! Definately depicts the song. Love the motion in the wings. The bee is a tad soft on the focus, but this had to be a really hard shot to get. DOF is very nice, the background is not distracting at all. The angle and framing/cropping is great. I like the blank space being in front of the bee. Good luck in the challenge.

Great capture. Awesome detail, perfect timing. Great composition. Just one thing: Isn't that a honey bee, not a bumble bee?

My first scan through all and I had to stop here. This is my favorite so far. This is fantastic and I can't say enough good about it. I can actually see the wings. OMG! If this gets less than a 10 people are crazy. PTL

Great shot of a bee in motion but focus is not quite there.
01/06/2003 07:31:36 AM
Great picture. The only problem is that that's a honey bee!
01/06/2003 07:17:49 AM
Really hard to do, and when it goes right it really goes right. Unfortunatly, its just a little too blurred to be a great shot.
