 Inspired by Peter Venter's great and courageous spirit, and the photography style of the truly masterful De Sousa.. I hope to have done some minor justice to both of them.

What a great shoot. Worked with a couple of friends, got the results I had envisioned, and got to burn down 20lbs of Magnesium in a cave, which was extremely fun and super impressive to witness. :)

Seriously, wow, just wow - it looked like 100 arc welders going at once, and the light was so intense it shone a couple hundred yards across the canyon, onto the opposing wall, and was then bright enough that flashlights were no longer needed for about a 1/4 mile radius. Impressive to say the least.

Probably the main character was too small in the frame - otherwise I couldn't understand how this is not in the top 5. I gave it an 8

I feel like I'm watching someone exit into the unknown, although there is light at the end of the tunnel, it seems to be a fiery fire he may be entering into.

Wondering if this is Petra, very awesome image, and pretty sure it's the blue, also very sure Peter would love this image, bumping up to a 10.

Yes, the face of the beast inside all of us. We can look down and avoid contact of any nature, we can turn around but not run away. In the absence of a logical choice, I chose to stand and face it. Knowing I am not alone, I will stare it down. Yes cancer, you took my body, but you will never take my mind!
Strong symbols, strong composition and very apt in this challenge!
