overall i find the border and cropped face too distracting. i want to focus on the eye with the reflection, which takes away from the challenge (to use bokeh to enhance the image)

Nice! The bokeh is soft and echoes the colors of the pups coat. I find the center highlight (below the ear) to be a distraction and the border is too much. I think it would work better with no border (of maybe just the innermost thin black line.

In my opinion you almost nailed it but the way the animals head is cropped isn't doing it for me. I do love the bokeh however and the animal is nice and sharp in the foreground.
