according to wikipedia, the original title of Manet's "Le déjeuner sur l'herbe" (The Luncheon on the Grass) was "Le Bain" (The Bath). How very fitting. |

This image has caused me to stop and pay attention. That means it is in my 7-10 voting band. (Voted earlier)
Additionally, it is highly interesting/eclectic meaning it keeps me here long enough to offer a longer comment and a vote of 8 or more.
This is one of my 8s - I like it. Furthermore I think it enriches the DPC collective portfolio. Put simply, I wish we saw more stuff like this. Let me tell you why it pushes all the right buttons for me:
1. Magical light - I like how you haven't pulled back the highlights, it feels as if this is how our eyes would see the scene.
2. Eclectic composition - the inclusion of the trees communicates a sense of 'canopy', connecting us to the scene.
3. The sense of family.
4. The gaze of the primary subject - this creates a good deal of ambiguity in terms of him and his relationship with the photographer (and thus viewer).
Overall, very well made. |

I love the light in this image, but it is just too much of a snapshot, with only one person looking at the camera. |
