a fantasy sky. I suppose the characters lived in smokes and swirls of their own making. 3

A lot of feeling in here, your use of the effect supports that, I can kind of connect that feeling to the Lost Generation of the novel and the Spanish style of colour. I can imagine the clouds are the bulls in the yellow sand being watched by the city below.6.

Great cloud action here and the golden tones work well. (Voted earlier)

Terrific use of warm silhouette contrasting against a necessary row of nocturnal blue above puffs of smoke from Hemingway's pipe, there is wonderful luminance in this shot. very high score from me.9

the clouds are looking almost like a painting which is very interesting. spent a few minutes making shapes out of them

Really wonderfully pp'd as paint

This picture might be a good illustration for the meaning of Hemingway's title originated from Ecclesiates
The sun rises and the sun sets, and hurries back to where it rises
but it feel like a good sunset/sunrise shoehorned for this challenge. Yes, another good sunset.

I came back to this image because of its painterly qualities. It does not fit the novel but there is some of Turner, some of the Dutch masters in it...

Wow. And not in a good way. This might have been a good image, but your processing murdered it, violently.

Doesn't really fit the novel either.

Looks more like a apocalyptic sunset. Not a big fan of filters of this type but there is some interesting balance there. 5

This really looks like a painting, especially the clouds and sun. A nice shot, but it plays only on the title and not so much on the story, though I have only read the synopsis and might be missing something. I might have rated it higher in a different challenge. 6

Seems a good literal interpretation of the title except for the artificial, almost painterly rendition of the clouds which could better serve a science fictional location. But the tones and contrast provide immediate impact that is pleasing to view on its own merits. 6

4...I love how the clouds look, very painterly. That being said, it conjures nothing of what the book is actually about. For me, this photograph is more about finding a title to suit an image. i think it might be a little over sharpened too. I can't tell for sure, if it's that or some sort of filter effect.

The photo seems a little odd to me. I personally do not like the dark clouds and the blue/gray sky. I guess the photo seems a little choppy and doesn't really flow throughout.

Gave it a 3

Don't like the processing you've chosen... it's like a "painted" effect? I don't' think it works with this shot. Perhaps a "diffusion" would have worked better?
But the title fits.

Very curious processing. Guessing you've used some Topaz Simplify to get this effect? Very painterly feel to it, and it works for the most part!

Very nice. I like the swirls in the clouds and the color palette. I also like the silhouette in the front. -7-

I'll be honest, I was dreading this title... but your sunrise mirrors the 1920's gloominess of the book. And I'm impressed with the painting effect. 6
