I gave this a 7 in voting so I guess you might learn more from someone who didn't like it as much as I did, but here goes ...
I think your greatest problem here, besides the extremely tough competition, is that this doesn't fit many people's idea of a landscape. I'm guessing that lots of voters wanted to see horizons and vast expanses of space and land. I really like the fact that you chose to focus on something on the land rather than the entire landSCAPE, but I also know how picky voters can be. I do think this is a very interesting place that you chose to shoot in. I really like the texture and the moss. As I said in my previous comment, my biggest complain is that the shot seems too dark. It was probably just the time of day, but you have lost some detail in the shadows. It has a very "rainy day" feel to it which I like but would prefer more light just the same. The few strands of grass along the left side are slightly distracting and could have been moved prior to shooting. I do like the placement of the rock in the frame, and I think you did a great job w/ the DOF. |

Lava fields. We have them here in Oregon. Neat. I don't know that I'd of thought to take this shot.....but I think it works......it works very well. Good composition.....love the apature you used. Nice work, great focus, color and light.

| Good depth of field. Really makes the eyes rest on teh rock in the foreground. |
