I selected this photo for the Critique Club although I already commented on it. I will try to expound on it further. As you can see from my comments I really like this photo but there were a few things that I would have changed. The bit of grass under the fence is distracting in part because it is so dark and doesn't show a lot of detail. However I do like the taller, thinner grass and maybe would like to see more of that. I would have really tried to keep this scene as simple as possible by showing only the fence and the beautiful snow mounds. I do like the gate and would maybe like to see that emphasised a little more. A slightly different composition may have been even more interesting such as getting even lower to to the ground so that the closest mound looked even bigger and helped to exaggerate the perspective. I wish I were there to study this location it looks really interesting. I would have taken every possible angle and composition I could think of. But as it is it is still very good. You did a nice job with the exposure and colors and it is as sharp as it needs to be. Good job.

Very interesting and differeint. I love the lumpy look to the snow, and the fence breaks it up, adding perfect focus and scale to pull the photo together. I'm giving this 10. |

OK, so what is it that makes the bumps here? A neat shot. May have worked a bit better if you used the entire 150 kb file size instead of just 60kb, would have been a little sharper. |

Looks like it's coming to life. Interesting shot. I wonder how it would have looked if you had tried it in black and white and then cropped it from the left side of the fence to just to the right of the twig sticking up in the bottom right? I think the added framing would do a good deal. |

Bumpy! I like it! I'd have been O.K. with just the bumps (no fence or far distance), you might have fooled some into thinking these were snow topped mountains (need to leave out the grass, too!) 7 Swash |

This is an interesting shot. Are there rocks under that snow or is it just dirt? Sure gives it an unuusal effect. Good. |

I wish it would snow here :( I love the snow mounds and your composition is very good. This might have made a great black and white. I'm not sure about the shrubbery behind the fence but it does add some visual interest. 8 |

The snow mounds provide great texture to this shot. Nice DOF. |

Fantastic patterns and composition. I think the snow is a little grey, did you use exposure bracketing? I tried using +1.5 to get cleaner snow. However the different colours to the snow adds dimension. Great shot. |

i love it! Very nice patterns in the snow. What was under there, I wonder.I think the fence is a good addition to the shot. kind of gives it a mock horizon line. Lighting is very nice, and focus and clarity are ok as well. Is the photo grainy, or is that the texture of the snow? Hard to tell. You did a nice job of not getting a horrible white glare from the snow. Good luck in the challenge. |

Nice bumps. A shot from ground level may have been very interesting here. You would get the mounds in shot as well as a lot more background. Though I do appreciate this would probably require lying flat out in the snow! |

I love this scene, but feel the snow is too grey/blue. Too much noise, as well. Composition is nice. |

I didn't know snow would form piles like that unless people skied on it. |
