Thank you very much Natasha for your critique on my submission.
As I can see from your comment and from most of the others, I realized to achieve one think with this picture that is more important to me then a high rank: I was able to transfer to the viewer the intention I had in mind when submitting this picture.
That was stillness and peace. These were my thought when I first saw the picture on the computer (during shooting this was not my impression, it rather was "it so cooooooled!").
Thanx again.

Composition-Content
The content of this picture is really beautiful, what a beautiful poem, your picture really evokes the same emotion of the poem, stillness and peace, a lovely concept and vision. i think that your composition is great, I love the simple lines with the plant highlighted in the foreground. The angle that you took this from, is pefect, with the sun backlighting the plant, I have tried this before and it isn't easy. I think that you did it really well.
Background
The background here is great, i think that you have enough background interest here to fit the challenge of landscape. The lines and shades of the trees are captured perfectly, with the snow really setting off the blues of the trees and sky.
Technical
I think that you have captured foreground detail and background well, with lovely colour saturation and use of light. One small detail would be that the picture looks like it could be rotated a few degrees to the right, just to even up the horizon.
My Opinion
I have recently tried a similiar shot to this which was inspired from the book "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Peterson (excellent book!). He did an example on backlighting objects with the sun, one option is to make the sun out of focus with a wide open aperture, 2.8 or 4.0, positioning the object in front of the sun and photograph in macro mode. This resulted in the foreground object being in focus with the sun a slightly out of focus ball, very nice effects. Of course for this challenge, landscape was the point, not the sun but it could be fun to play with in the future! Anyway, congrats on such a beautiful picture and Good Luck in the next challenge. |

Thanx for all the wonderful and informative comments.
Reading the comments is as exciting as looking at the vote.
The outcome of my submission surprised my: I didn't though it would do so well. 6.28 in this wonderful challenge is great.
In my opinion my submission came short regarding the challenge-topic: the landscape was not the main object, it was more the weed. I also knew that some people might have problems realizing what they are looking at.
Therefore I added this long title to strengthen the intention.
Here is whole poem of Goethe for those who are interested:
SAMENESS
Over all hilltops
is peace
in all the treetops
you feel
barely a breeze;
The birds in the forest have
stopped their song
Wait, before long
you too will be still.
(Translated by Brigitte Dubiel)
I thought this poem fits well to the picture.
I submitted the picture simply because I liked it very much for its simplicity.
I had to crop it very tight, because in all directions there were other weeds disturbing the picture. I also sharpened it and strengthened the blue color.
One big problem while taking the picture was that I could not judge it right on the spot: the sun shined so bright, that even with my sun-shade I could not see my LCD-screen well enough to determine sharpness and exposure correctly. It was also very cold, windy and I had to go into the deep snow with my knees to make the shot.
Thanx again to all voters and commenter

Great use of the back lighting. The subject unfortunately is a bit unsharp. Seems your camera focused on the background. But then again, your title suggests that the treetops actually were your subject ;-) |

The more I look at this, the more I like it. My shot this week is a similar concept (foreground object the main focus of the image). I like the very simple lines of the tree line horizon, the clear sky. I also like the graduation of tones in the foreground. I keep trying to imagine this shot without the branch to the right of the stem. I think I would either like this better without the branch, or crop lower so the branch doesn't start at the very bottom of the frame. Nice image and good luck in the challenge...8 |

Interesting, bold composition and colours. The way the lighting edges that plant in the foreground is lovely. Overall, it doesn't really grab me, however. It seems too stark and cold. |

You seem to have put a good deal of thought into the presentation of this picture, and I appreciate that, but the focus on the plant is a bit off, and it doesn't feel like it's in the right place. The idea is good, though, and a reshoot would be well justified. |

Wow, this took some work. I think it's fantastic. I guess I would like to see the setup. |

Just love it ... the light, the contrasts, the 3 zones from top to bottom that are not dead center, rule of thurd but with a nice 1-2-4 proportion that I like. Nice job .. very nice .. good luck for this week .. I hope you get a ribbon :-)

Too much light brought in to this picture. The color of the sky is breathtaking, not sure I would have added the focal point here, it is a bit distracting |

I would have liked this rotated right a tad. The lighting on the snow is pretty and the contrast between the sky and the neutral colors is nice to me. |

Very interesting composition, and nice capture of the light behind the foreground vegetation (looks like Queen Anne's Lace to me?). Captivating. |

A great capture of the sun in the weed. Very well composed and I like the cold, starkness of your piece. |

I'm not really sure what's up with this little weed(?). It looks kind of odd, like a filter was used or something. I do have to say that the photo would be bland without it, so it's a good thing. I like how the sun comes through it. The blue is nice, and focus seems ok as well. Good luck in the challenge. |

Really abstract and quite unique. I've got no idea what it is but it still looks quite good. I think maybe a little more definition in the back ground would've rated it higher in my opinion. I think i've gotta know what something is before i can form an impression. 6. |

I'd have like to have seen the background landscape more, but that would have blown out the foreground too much. Nice shot though - 7 |
