 "The Veil" is actually a suicide prevention screen. Until this screen was built quite recently, the Bloor St. Viaduct (a sort of bridge over a deep ravine) had low parapets to prevent pedestrians from falling or jumping to their deaths, and many people had committed suicide from it. The steel screen, which covers the full length of the long block viaduct's length on both sides of the street, has a beauty of its own. This is a very small section of it.
