Congratulations on second place!
01/27/2003 12:30:18 AM
Congrats, one of my favorites. Seldom have I seen the use of mood so well done in the challenges. Despite the lighten up the foreground comments, I really liked it just how it was.

love the dark and misty look...
01/26/2003 09:21:17 PM
The image is just a bit to dark. I love the fog and the dead end sign though. Great! jgillard8

Athis does make me want to find out what is at the end of the lane. Good job meeting the challenge with a very nice photo. Composition, contrast, mood, use of b/w, all excellent. 10

Great shot , a tad bit dark though

I like the sense of danger the image invokes.
01/25/2003 08:45:50 PM
Very nice moody image...like it very much.
01/25/2003 04:39:31 PM
Excellent composition and subject. COuld brighten the sign and foreground a bit to bring out the contrast. I love how the road leads into the glowing fog.
01/25/2003 05:38:39 AM
Excellent photo, very eerie. Well done.
01/24/2003 10:29:56 PM
you've captured a really earie looking photo. the fog really makes your sign stand out. Good job!
01/24/2003 09:39:47 PM
spooky. don't think I'd venture down that road. Looks like something out of a Stephen King book. Good luck.
01/24/2003 02:37:16 PM
Great shot and wonderful imagery!
01/24/2003 01:49:01 PM
Nice spooky atmosphere. I like this. 9
01/24/2003 11:30:59 AM
Very nice moody feel to this shot. The mood is enhanced nicely by the black and white, also. I'd perhaps light to see it just a tiny bit lighter, but that's difficult to say without actually seeing it and comparing them side by side. But I really like this - a creative shot in this challenge. (8)
01/24/2003 07:21:44 AM
I've debated whether this is an amazing picture or just plain good. My mind wants to say it is too dark, but that is perfect for this sign. The fog/death metaphor is terrific.
01/24/2003 01:43:15 AM
A brilliant shot for this challenge. Filled with stories of macabre at the end of the road. The black/white adds to the threat at the end of lifeís path. This is one of only two 10ís for me this week, -Nice Shot-
01/24/2003 12:41:44 AM
IMO this image is great in B & W. However as little as 1/2 a stop more would brighten the foreground just a little and make the sign pop just a little harder I think. This a great image for this challenge and a great find.
01/23/2003 08:57:20 PM
love the mood of this photo...excellent work!
01/23/2003 08:43:33 PM
I like the fog which fits in with the sign very well. B&W works well here too. I would have prefered a tighter crop to cut out at least the black patch in the foreground. Nice work.
01/23/2003 05:37:24 PM
quite a spooky shot, and the sign adds to this feeling emanating from this picture.
01/23/2003 12:39:32 PM
Great pic. The sign before the unseen road ahead is really really well composed. Well taken in terms of technique and also in terms of mood. Nice job - Inspzil
01/23/2003 08:59:17 AM
spooky. Darkness is used really well here. An accomplished photo in my opinion. 9
01/23/2003 06:04:32 AM
What a classic. Excellent capture. Well done. 10 :)
01/22/2003 11:16:25 PM
I like the fog, I bet this was hard go get done. I originally gave it a five but I am bumping it up to a seven. When I look back in a few days it may be an eight or nine
01/22/2003 10:49:44 PM
Love the mood
01/22/2003 10:04:48 PM
Great choice of black and white.
01/22/2003 09:10:21 PM
What a great, atmospheric shot this is, with the road sign totally matching the mood of the scene. Good Luck!
01/22/2003 08:33:30 PM
This would make a neat entry to a movie..I like your composition in the fog. The road takes me in and I want to see what's at the end of the road.
01/22/2003 07:39:26 PM
Man I can almost drown in the mist just looking at this foto. The accent of the foreground leaves melting into moody silhouettes just takes my breath away. I really like the damp feel of the pavement and the touch of delicate branches like spider web strands. The moment you chose for the foto was perfect. I like the grey looming fog instead of blazing white that is commonly seen. Continue with your outstanding vision.
01/22/2003 03:36:56 PM
at first i didn't like how dark this was...i know that's how it's meant to be...i like how the path disappears into the fog. if there was a little more light on the sign it would be better
01/22/2003 08:13:50 AM
Wow! The use of B&W is perfect for this shot! Reminds me of an old B&W horor movie! I love teh dark atmosphere of the whole shot. The sign blends in but youre still drawn towards it. The mist ads to the mistery. After careful consideration.... from an 8 to a 9! Good job!!
01/22/2003 03:06:36 AM
Very nice choice of making it b&w, the fog, the sign and all!
01/21/2003 06:42:08 PM
Wow! This is very atmospheric. 9
01/21/2003 05:45:01 PM
Gorgeous -- very very well done.
01/21/2003 08:29:38 AM
Wow that just looks so gloomy. Dead end says it right. I think you could have done a closer crop though, it would have brought more attention to the sign, but still have been able to maintain the effect. This shot may also have been kinda neat with desaturation, only keep the yellow of the sign, and maintain the rest as it is now. That too would have drawn a bit more attention. I likethe placement of the sign though in this pic, and your focus was great especially for conditions like this. Back to cropping I probably would have cropped a bit off the bottom too, get the horizon out of the middle of the picture and lose the unneeded leaves and pavement onthe bottom. Great shot though, it is just so freaky. 8.
01/21/2003 06:40:34 AM
Wow what an eerie photo. Great capture. I gave you a 9.
01/20/2003 10:57:39 PM
ooooooooo I don't know if I want to go on ward........ nice capture.
01/20/2003 10:23:19 PM
My favorite of the lot ... and choice of B&W made this one go from an 8 to a 10. Great job.
01/20/2003 09:30:04 PM
That fog machine must have cost a fortune to create this shot... IE: I love the fog. It has a eerie quality that complements the "dead end" sign lovely. Black and white is also very effective with this photo. Well done.
01/20/2003 06:11:28 PM
Wow, that's pretty gloomy looking... Nice effect/mode!
01/20/2003 05:21:33 PM
i really like the effect and the mood...it's very scary...wish the sign was a bit lighter...good luck :)
01/20/2003 04:03:20 PM
This is my favorite shot of the week! It is different, it's original, and the sign seems to add to the mood of the background! The fog just touching the ground.. it's so atmospheric! Such a great job of catching this when you did. I love it! 10! -Annida
01/20/2003 03:25:08 PM
Dark and moody
01/20/2003 02:09:55 PM
reminds me of my current love life ;-)

one of my highest ratings this week. good combination of subject and ambiance.
01/20/2003 01:58:28 PM
This photo has great mood works so well in B+W well done
01/20/2003 12:25:12 PM
This would be a top ten if it wasn't so underexposed. Great compo.
01/20/2003 10:41:10 AM
I loved this photo. Extremely Gothic looking. The "DEAD End" sign suits the environment perfectly :) I'll give this a 10
01/20/2003 10:23:06 AM
Wow. Beautiful, spooky B&W. 10
01/20/2003 06:44:13 AM
I think it may be a fraction too dark, or it might just be my monitor.
01/20/2003 05:33:11 AM
I'd have preferred this a bit lighter.
01/20/2003 02:17:16 AM
Awesome photo. This should make the top 10. The fog makes it along with the sepia tone. Great job. I love it. You get my first 10
01/20/2003 02:06:25 AM
This shot would have been gorgeous if it were a little brighter. Good find.. Cub
01/20/2003 01:25:59 AM
This feels really forboding (did I spell that right?) to me... I like the photos that put the sign in context with the surroundings, and I think this one works rather well. I think the foreground is a bit too dark, but this is a well done image otherwise. I might have also made the dead end sign a bit more prominent, it doesnt stand out enough. 7
01/20/2003 12:57:08 AM
whoa, freaky! could be right out of a hitchcock movie with all that foggy greyness! that having been said--i usually go for more contrasty B&W photos--but the monotone greys work for this picture. nice work!
