 I've had the idea for this shot for awhile but was waiting for the right challenge for it. I wanted to portray the feeling of someone feeling so isolated and small in a world of chaos. I would've liked the clouds to be swirling around more but the sun was too bright so 45 seconds was the longest I could keep the shutter open. It's a bit of an illusion but I'm sitting only about 6 feet above the rocky shoreline.

I'm glad people caught the reference from the song Hurt by Nine Inch Nails. Johnny Cash did an fantastic cover of the song but I'm partial to the NIN version since I've been a big fan of Trent Reznor since the late 80s when he released his first EP. I think the Johnny Cash version is more poignant though since the words take on a whole different meaning when he sings it. The NIN version is pure emo-ish woe is me, while the Cash version is just full of so much sorrow and regret.

It looks like you are about to fall off the edge, dramatic image. Maybe a little too close to the edge for my liking, but this sure has impact.

Great song by NIN, although I like the Johnny Cash version much more. It's in my playlist.
