I used quite a heavy hand with the Nikon Shadow Protection option due the intense Botswana mid morning light creating deep shadows on the African Wild Dogs faces. The natural contrast is as much as I'd like without it being more unrealistic.

Rare and endangered they are a treat to see and only my 3rd ever wild sighting in 30+ years of trekking into the African bush. Watching the group play and interact in the water was an experience I will never forget.

the overexposed color makes the shot beautiful on an abstract level, which contrasts with the faux violence on display.

The scene captured here is excellent. However I would've preferred a contrast bump just to make the moment more dramatic and pop a bit more.
