 Hmm... a balloon challenge the same week as the largest hot air balloon festival in my area. What to do, what to do...?

I made the 2 hour round trip drive to this festival three days in a row, two of those at 4am. I was determined to get SOMETHING, but the first two days weren't very good. It was dreary and too windy to launch, so only a few balloons were there. Naturally, this shot was from the first (evening) trip. Fun anecdote: I proposed to my wife years ago in a hot air balloon at this same festival.

The lighting here sis so amazingly fabulous. I'd love to find out how you achieved such fantastically beautiful colors. I can't even get over it... Your outtakes are all amazing too, but this was definitely the most dymanic and unique picture of them all. Congrats on the Red!

There are a few occasions that stay forever in our memories. That is one of the more magical ones.

Great Job Shannon. When I heard "Balloon Festival" on the radio, I first thought it was the festival held in Goshen- but it was Plainfield. You did a great job sourcing this out and finding a unique shot.

I actually never really liked the technical quality of most of your images. always found flaws that bugged me. this though, is truly exceptional. can't fault anything at all.
