Most people have never seen this species. When in the tree tops, the bird is marked very much like the Ponderosa pine cones, but especially the branches.

Despite being red he actually blends in alright next to the other pinecones.

The red bird might be camouflaged well against autumn foliage, but come winter, these birds stick out like the dogs proverbials.
