The first photo is effective. Conceptually, the second photo is also effective, but the execution doesn't work for me.
Lighting in the second photo seems really bright and harsh. It looks like areas of your neck were blown out and have no detail (right under your chin is getting pixelated especially), and there's dark spots on your chin and nose where you seem to be masking (get it? haha) glaring highlights. |

I picture this as a scene from an animated show where they zoom in.. and in.. and in... through the eyes and into the "brain world"
