Totally agree with this, the border was not pleasant... gave you a 7 bc of it, would've been higher without it, but I felt like you trapped the ocean in a frame and the waves had nowhere to go.
Congrats on the ribbon anyways!

| The dark foreground and short crop make this feel off. Wave and misty shadows are gorgeous, but it just doesn't make it past "really good" for me. |

| A beautiful shot without the surging wave, but then here it is and the image is supercharged. Great immediacy. I'm guessing Long Island Sound. One of two personal favorites. |

| A great image, you can feel the wind's fury in the rolling wave. I like the mono presentation and the highlights on the water, the only thing I'm a little disappointed by are the halos around the sharper elements. Good luck |

| The frame being so dark distracts from the relatively low contrast hills. Shame, because it's an otherwise powerful image. |

Top 3 in my opinion
Beautiful composition and the huge wave takes the shot to a higher level
love the rocks in the background with subtle differences in gray tones
excellent processing |
