Thanks for the comments.
This was taken during the big storm we had last week. Went down to the water around high tide to see what I could see.
I was expecting beautiful plumes of water shooting into the sky, with ooohs and aaahs from the crowd of huddled hot-chocolate drinkers.
What I got was a biting-cold continuous sea spray in my face and a mix of sea water and road-salted slush on a bed of ice under my feet.
In short time I couldn't feel my toes, and by that time I had already lost some fingers. The camera wasn't really focusing very well, the iso settings were on something I didn't want but lacked the dexterity to change. I took a few horrible photos of the scene, blurry from a slow shutter, missed focus, poorly composed. And then I ran home as fast as I could.
I didn't even realize there was a stop-motion challenge until a few days later, and thought something from that ill-advised adventure might work. So I played with a closer version of this, and the railing reminded me of sheet music, and I couldn't pass up the "Sea Sharp" pun. But then I switched it out with this one, where the music bars aren't nearly as noticeable a feature, but stuck with the title anyway and over-sharpened the living daylights out of it to try to compensate for the poor image quality. |
