failures are wonderful!
Started out with a paper boat and water.
Failed miserably.
Asked my husband if he could poor some water on/around boat to make it more interesting.
Failed
He put his hands in the water to make waves, and I took a shot. The fingers in the water were kinda creepy/weird. Tried a couple more of those, wasn't quite right.
Then I had the idea of the water running through the hands.
When I was little, I'd try to cup my hands to get a drink of water from a faucet or a pump. My hands are small, and I was small, and I never seemed to get the hang of it. By the time I got it up to my mouth, all the water was gone.
It also made me think about how precious water is, and how we so readily waste it.
I tried shots with just the hands. Then at the very end, I asked him to lower his face. It looked lousy on the screen, so we only did a couple of shots.
However, once in photoshop, cropping it and converting to b&w made it so much better. The 80 million shots of just the hands and water didn't even make it into photoshop, and I just worked with this one.
I really like this shot. Failures are good things!
