Critique Club Assignment:

Composition - Interesting perspective and leading lines. Colors are bright and attractive. Stairs and yellow color brings the viewer deep into the photo.

Technical - Quality could be better.. a bit sharper. Also, the flash caused the front of the rail to be too lit up.

Overall - Interesting, but in need of technical improvement.

Not sharp enough focus. Beautiful otherwise.

Interesting. The colours are really nice. The lighting is kind of strange.

Sharper focus would have improved the shot in my mind.

All the odd angles and shapes give this an Escher-like feel...maybe you should try it in an exaggerated grayscale version as well.

challenge met. you've chosen quite an unusual angle for what would otherwise look like a pretty average shot, i like your approach a lot. i'm still distracted by some of the things in the shot, but i am not sure that you could've avoided them (short of taking a pic of a different building and then it wouldn't be this pic anymore ;). the railings for the stairs lead the eye to the edge of the photo and away from the stain-glass windows. the vents in the upper part are distracting, at the same time, i like the splash of color added by the yellow wall and you would loose that if you cropped out the vents. technically and from a post-processing point of view i don't really see anything that i would suggest doing differently. :)

I really like the perspective of this, but I feel like the "fuzziness" of it takes away from the total effectiveness.

The flash on the Cam provides for an affect that is not natural to light on the Rod Iron. I would try to use a sock over the flash to reduce harshness of light then reshoot and see if it turns out better.

Lack of depth of field caused the images closest and farthest away to be out of focus. Some times this can not be helped do the the camera's capabilities. Also when I viewed your picture I cropped the image off just below the yellow wall and I like the picture much better. I like the shot with all it's lines, shapes and forms, and point of view. Good luck. John Gill

This needs to be a little clearer. The lighting on the rail is very distracting as well. If it were me, I would've focused on either the door or the windows. The combination of the 2 would work if those metal grate things above the door weren't being eyesores. - Inspzil

the crop here and or shot angle seem unconmfortable and the flash on the railing makes the lighting look uneven, but your choice of subjects is good.. the windows are neat looking and worth photographing....

Interesting angles, but I think there was a much better shot there. Focus is missing throughout. Jak 5

Nice angle, however the shots seems to be lacking focus.
