Picture taken through the window of a very famous dumpling restaurant in Singapore, Din Tai Fung.

This is most probably a shoehorn as I'm not sure it conveys the simple message as strongly as I wanted it to. I hope the crowd picks it up using the title of the picture. Also hoping to get some honest feedback / comments on the picture.

*Hello from Sid and the Critique Club*

A well executed image that fulfils the challenge through the title.

I know I'm in the minority here but lovely as the image is, on its own it does not convey simple to me. It relies upon the viewer also taking your title into account but then in my mind the title is also an integral part of the image at least here on DPC it is so with that proviso it does meet the challenge. It's good that you have chosen to do it the way you have because if everybody entered the type of image I visualise for the challenge then there probably wouldn't be as much variety as your image has contributed.

You have received a lot of warm comments that identify the light as the key quality that gives your image that extra quality that is so lovely to see. I had a problem with the person on the extreme right but he is cleverly balanced against the hands on the left of the frame and this makes it all work well together. I like your DOF and focus point we have just the right amount of detail through the image as a whole. All in all a very effective and pleasing result in spite of my reservations.

Well done for going with your instincts, Sid

Thanks Anita! I did suspect it to be wrong in the challenge but I liked the image so much that I just entered.

Clearly a very beautiful photo. The processing and the wonderful tones and light are just splendid. I probably would say it's the best photo in this challenge, except there's one thing, this is in the wrong challenge, just wondering if you thought the same or if you thought that you could maybe shoehorn this challenge.

I remember making raviolis many times....dim sum....tortellinis..... yet another time...of course pierogies every year and gnocchi on another festive occasions.......each VERY time consuming. Most delicious...very time consuming. If you want a simple dumpling just mix egg, flour, a bit of baking soda, salt and milk into a thick batter..... spoon it into boiling chicken stock until they float. THAT'S pretty simple.
