 On Oct. 3rd, Catchlight Gallery had a photo shoot with this model, Spencer. This photo was shot outdoors against a black velvet background. I was trying to shoot a low key portrait. I'm not sure if this is low key though!! Thank you Spencer.

Raw mode:
I tweaked and made adjustments in channel mixer, selective color, curves, and levels to get the various tones and contrast.

Cloned out skin blemishes, dodged around the eye area and ran it through Neat Image. For sharpening I used the High Pass method in PS CS. Cropped and resized.

Thanks to my friend Steve (member StephenJames) for pointing out to darken the hair area. It turned out my monitor's black point was set too dark after I adjusted the calibration. I readjusted it and re-worked the levels on the photo.

Canon 50mm f1.8 prime.

Nice tonal range. Only nitpick is the left eye & eyelash look off. Very nice portrait.

Lovely portrait, real nice tones. The only problem I have is his eye looks kind of weird, like the iris is blending with the shadow of his orbital ridge. Minor complaint.
