What makes a house a home? It's not the house. It's not the belongings. Well -- I take that back. There are definitely things I care about. Though there are things of my mother's, grandmothers' and great grandmother's in my house that I care about more. But if there was a flood/fire/some catastrophe, I would save my family and my cats and simply be thankful and cry later about the things.

So when I was thinking about the challenge, I simply couldn't just take a picture of my house. It had to be about part of my family.

It wasn't a candid shot. Well -- it was a planned candid. I set up the light so I'd get a shadow through the railing. Unfortunately, Mo still isn't the most cooperative cat. I had to keep throwing the ring from a milk carton up the stairs, and then try to get the camera up to my face when he'd chase after it.

I was disappointed to see all the junk at the top of the stairs. It's a loft that simply is overflowing with stuff. mostly hobbies. I figured I could probably darken it almost completely, but then I realized: That is my house! A kitty and my messes. That's Home Sweet Home. :)

This would've been so perfect if the basket at the top of the stairs wasn't there as it's really distracting, my eye keeps getting drawn to it. Having said that I'm thinking this is probably a candid since it's pretty hard to set up a cat walking down the stairs. I do love the shadow the cat has made on the wall, beautiful lighting.
