A photograph of a 1938 Hispano-Suiza H6B Dubonnet "Xenia" Coupe taken at The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (MFAH) in Houston, Texas, USA.

As soon as this challenge was announced I knew exactly where I was going to take the photograph. I had already submitted two photographs taken a MFAH and was planning on visiting the "Sculpted in Steel: Art Deco Automobiles and Motorcycles, 1929-1940" exhibit, this challenge prompted me to spend the $30 see it. Needless to say the exhibit was just amazing, especially if you are into Art Deco and/or automobiles. I came away with lots of photographs but something about this one just spoke to me.

As I was looking thru the viewfinder all I could think of was a Cyclon Raider from the remake of Battlestar Galactica, which were much smoother in their design with beautiful flowing lines compared to the raiders from the original. I also knew this was the shot I would be entering. I am worried that because it is actually a large part of the car (looking over the front fender at the grill) that people may think it is "Detail" enough. I took lots of real close-up detail shots but I just had to enter this one. Guess we will know in a week how well it does.

Greetings from the Critique Club!

Congrats on the top ten finish, for one! At first I was a little dubious about this pic with the vast amount of oof stuff in the foreground, but it does help to sell the nicely tack-sharp focus on the Raider. Good detail and going from the comments more than a few other people appreciated the sci-fi element you saw and ran with here. Good work, keep it up!

Hope this helps

Susan

Simple, elegant, with a strange hint of Darth Vaderish malevolence. Top 3.

Fascinating shapes and lines. Looks like a hovering flying saucer. But I bet its a car :) Voted earlier.

Otherworldly, like an ancient Flash Gordon serial.

COOL! Nice focus! Can't wait to find out what car this is. Almost looks like an old Cord.
