Composition-content
Perhaps this didn't strike most viewers as a typical cliche, of course this depends on your part of the world. However I think that it is a great shot. Composition is good with the cactus coming out of the side of the picture and set against the blue sky, which adds a nice contrast. Perhaps, you could have shot at a slightly lower angle, to include the top of the needles and maybe cut off a bit of the rocks from the bottom.
Background
I like the colours and the way that they are set off against the blue in the sky. The one other plant in the left top corner adds depth and adds an element of repeating patterns.
Technique
Focus and clarity on the cactus is good, with the background slightly blurred to bring attention to the focus. Perhaps, slightly more contrast would have been good, to bring out the blue of the sky more, maybe deeper colours would have had more impact.
My Opinion
Great shot, perhaps not the most attention grabbing shot, but a nice clear picture. Some macro shots of those cacti could be interesting. Good Luck in the next challenge. |
