I was crawling around the ground taking pictures of dandelions, when I came across this guy.
My first attempt was with the 100-400mm lens (yes, for flowers), and then the macro lens.
Then it was time to go for a bike ride with my husband. I couldn't find the flower!!
It turns out that the petals had fallen off the flower, and since the flower wasn't there, it was almost impossible to find the bud. That's because This is the size of the buds of this type of flower!:
No wonder it was hard to find.
The main problem was, we really don't have grass. Grass doesn't grow here unless you spend large amounts of money watering it. So we have a combination of weeds, dirt, more weeds, etc. I spend about an hour lying on my stomach propped up on my elbows and arms. I had prickly sores all over my arms for the next number of days. Next time, I will definitely wear a long sleeved shirt (or elbow pads). But it is fascinating what you find when you get down in there.
Thanks for the comments!
