 This sand bar was amazing on the island we stayed at in Kuramathi. At low tide, you could almost walk to the next island on the atoll, but once tide rose, the waves from both sides would rock you pretty hard.

Prior to our trip, my wife and I bought 'bug bands', which are these velcro bands with mosquito-repellent cartridges that you put into the band, and you can wear them on your wrist or ankle. They worked wonderfully, until we both walked way out into this sand bar and her ankle was hit with a hard wave. Her bug band ripped off and sailed into the ocean. We walked back looking for it, and then she decided to try and walk along the sand bar once more to try and find it. It was gone, but I got a good shot of her while she searched.

Thanks to all for the great votes and comments, I'm very happy to get a good photo out of this trip!

As I wended the shores I know, (This is what I read in this challenge and although I did not DNMC anyone, I feel this deserves a higher score. Because it meets the challenge and because it is a stunning shot.

This is brilliant! A piece of art, the clouds, the way the water curves...a centred composition that is so effective, where ocean meets shore, man don't you wish you had this for that challenge, but it's excellent in this challenge too. My top pick!

The lowly spit of sand offers an anchorage....
