 Mon and Dad (my In-Laws) were married in 1946 just after WWII. Their commitment to one another and their family was truly special.

As there was a shortage of silk, nylon, etc. after the war, Mom handmade this wedding gown from a silk parachute that Dad brought home when returning from the war. The veil was purchased for $20.00 (a lot of money then); the receipt for it was still in the box with the gown. The flowers and boutonniere are from their 50th anniversary. They still wore the rings until they departed the earth, she in 2011, he in 2014. The diamond ring was added much later in their marriage. We all say he died of a broken heart.

The gown and veil have been in their cedar chest in an old cardboard box for many years, so I had to be very careful to unfold and display for this photo. It was white at one time. My plans are to heirloom package it.

They are missed.
