Meets the challenge: Very well, pets are definitely a cliche.

Composition: I do not care for the cat looking out to the left. I think the flowers would have worked if the cat was facing them, and they and the plant add some additional warmth and hominess to the shot. I take pics of my cats (3) a lot and know how difficult it is to get a well-posed shot.

Technical Quality: I would have preferred the light to be on the cat's face rather than the flowers and the cat's neck and forechest. Also, a better depth of field (7-8)would have enabled the cat's face to be in focus, or to focus in on the face and let the flowers etc be out of focus, since they are add-ons to the main subject, although then you would be dealing with exposure times!

Creativity: Good use of props to make the shot more interesting and warm.

Overall Conclusion: A shot that needed some technical and composition improvement. If you take it with the cat facing the window, send me a copy, bet it'll be gorgeous!

If you have questions, please feel free to email me.

It's a pity there wasn't a bit more light on the cat's face.

Gorgeous cat - could have stood being brushed before the photo. I like the background with the flowers - nice contrast against the muted colors of kitty.

turn of head is interesting

If I crop out the pink flowers, this is an outstanding pet portrait. But with the flowers, my eye is drawn over to them and away from what I believe is your main subject. JMO. :)

Nice cat. Shame lighting wasn't stronger.

Hey that's my cat! Or at least one just like it. LOL. Nice compsition. It would have been nice to avoid the bookcase on the left, and I wish the colours were a bit punchier. Otherwise, very nice.

The depth of focus you have acheved is fantastic and the flowers add a nice touch of color, but in my opinion the cat looking directly out of the frame is distracting, I want to see what the cat is looking at.

Wonderful shot, the lighting is lovely. Only gripe- wish the cat was looking at the camera! Nevertheless, it's beautiful.

Beautiful shot - I love the lighting and your cat's eyes. The pink flowers in the background add a nice splash of color and interest. In a landscape format, this photo would look nice in a calendar.

Would be better if the cat's nose/face were in focus instead of the right back side... try using manual spot focus, centering on the cat's nose, letting the camera focus, and then shifting the camera right for the framed shot.

Beautiful cat but too dark on the cat. In my opinion the light and dark should have been reversed. But it is a beautiful cat.

I wish the eyes were just a tad sharper. Nice lighting and wonderful pose. The background is a bit distracting. It might have been better with less DOF.

This seems to be out of focus to me. But I do like the composition and color
