We were driving down a country road when I saw the reflected tree trunks in the water and decided to stop and shoot. That the reflection was the first thing I noticed pretty much accounts for the composition I chose - I wanted to keep as much of that as I could, so I went out to where they started breaking up when I was shooting and looked for a little something else of interest to include. It actually took me awhile to spot the rowboats - there were also a building and two little piers along the shore here. I took the entire scene as well as "smaller" scenes. I was delighted with the boats, and in my mind they were (and are) perfect for an Impressionist landscape.

It's really good to know that Anita just didn't like the scene - for me it is very helpful in understanding what I consider the low score overall (obviously many shared her opinion of the scene's lack of interest) and actually helps me understand Eugene's score of a 1. I really didn't get that since my use of a filter was actually quite mild and I considered its use as well as the scene and light imminently suitable for this particular challenge.

I like the vivid colours in this, but felt there was way too much water for my liking, and the scene with the trees by and of itself was not super exciting...now if a boat was in the water that would be a different thing!
