Wonderful image and I am glad to see it on the front page. One of my favorites of the challenge and I think the timing of the shot a focus are wonderfully executed.
I'm guessing the 1 and 3 votes are people that thought was a captive shot. |

Congrats on the top 5 finish. I am so glad this was not a zoo photo, would have regretted my vote if it had been. |

Excellent photo, and so glad it really was in Indonesia - would love to see more photos from your shoot. |

Yeah, you probably got a couple of "Zoo pic" low votes. This is fantastic and very well presented. Congrats on top 5. |

This Komodo Dragon was photographed in Komodo Island in Flores Indonesia, they are wild and they roam throughout the island for foods like deers, goats and even their own younger Komodo dragons. |

These creatures are very rare, and usually only found in Indonesia, but I could be wrong. I would love to know if this really was in the wild, I guess we have to give you the benefit of the doubt, anyway this creature is very very horrific to look at, great capture. Already voted. |

Good on ya! |

Maybe I haven't been paying attention, but in spite of the many Komodo pictures I've seen before, this is the first time I have realised just how marked is the diagonally-opposite gait of this species. Probably it looks so exaggerated because the legs go so far sideways when off the ground. Illustrating that probably wasn't your intention, but either way, thank you. |

OH MY GOD!!! This is just amazing. This is the winner. Those eyes staring at the viewer, that tongue coming out,.... scary. A 10 from me and my Blue Dragon Award |

Woah, that is one sinister looking beast! I am going to have to take your word for it that this is in the wild - Indonesia? Excellent choice of perspective. |
