 It started raining when I was on holiday in Thailand. I noticed the rain falling on the water lilies in the pond and the soft muted light. I wanted to capture the moment.

Using a telephoto lens and a wide aperture, I wanted to create some layers in the raindrops. I also chose a fast shutter speed to freeze the raindrops.

In editing, I kept it simple. Using Lightroom, I increased the contrast, reduced highlights and shadows, increased clarity and saturation.

Greetings from the Critique Club! This is a very pretty picture and as a commenter mentioned, could well be a motivational poster all on its own. The light is nice and soft, the flowers are tack-sharp and the blur of the rain adds dynamism, a sense of DOF and texture. Composition and lighting are perfect for the shot; I feel that its simplicity is vastly underappreciated. Please keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing more of your entries soon.

This pretty, unpretentious image brings to mind candles in a storm, resolute and unflickering. There's a motivational poster without any need for words.
