Congratulations on placeing so highly in a tough competition. I thought this was one of the best photos of the quality of light.

Thank you for all your nice comments and encouraging. I learned something again. The fact is that I did not anticipate this photograph to finish so high in the voting. I had some other submission candidates, one of them taken also in the cathedral and others with different themes. Now I see that choosing this one was a good decision.
As for the actual crop, I did not want to include the end of the corridor and the floor because there were some distracting elements which - I think - would have ruined the purity of the scene.

Yes, that is perfectly to the point of the challenge. Very high quality. I know the main subject are arcades, but I wish there was the end of the corridor visible. Would've add some atmosphere to the whole composition. 9.

Good shapes and symmetry. I like how the shadows go gray, white, black gray. I would like to be in this room and just shout once. I picture the floor as poissbly marble, definitely somthing hard to magnify ones footsteps when going through this corridor. (6)

Nice architecture shot. My very first impression upon opening the photo is that I would have liked to have seen farther down the corridor, perhaps even the floor. The lights and darks are good, the sharpness is good, and the symetry is almost perfect. 7

Nice subtle variation on the motif with the dark arch. Really elegant and a great study in the power of contrast. Although the arches move down, I get the feeling of upward movement. Again, that contrast makes what could have been just an average photo, a very good photo.
