 Freckled kids rule! :-)
Thank you, kind voters, for overlooking not sufficient badness of my model's hair! :-) I was shooting my gorgeous model Lana for "serpentine" challenge, had an idea of rim light around her contorted body which failed miserably. Was walking around the cat, looking at his hair, fluffing it and contemplating if it's bad enough... When Girish put the photo of his "angry teenager" for the discussion on team page. I realized I don't have to be too literal and can play with expression. I had a photo with Lana looking rather withdrawn (don't even know if it's a right word), but it was pretty murky with a blown highlight from our attempt to create mist with a humidifier. :-)

I think I did Detail Extractor and then opened it in my favorite Silver Efex. I never know what I really want and keeped playing with options, till remembered one can also change film type in there! That was the moment that reminded me developing actual photograph, when you put the sheet of paper in the solution and suddenly see the features of the face or details of the landscape! It is so much fun, and I thank DPC for bringing it back!!
Also huge thank you to Tate who recommended cool crop, I am positive it would not have been taken so well as it was.
And of course thank you to Lana and her awesome parents, who were inventive, and patient and all! Here's little behind the scenes :-)

I love this portrait, I adore it, I'm even a little jealous of it, however this was a dnmc image for me, couldn't give it the score it deserved...but lots of other people didn't see it like I did. Congrats on the win.

Love this. Love the expression, the composition, the processing. Fit with challenge is soso, but it gets a nice score from me. Only nitpick for me is the space to viewer's left of her cheek and shoulder. Not sure what is going on there . . . a hairnet? Anyway, I think I'd like that space better clean or with hair.
