Really cool idea and well executed. Love the head tilted down a bit and the b/w treatment. I might like the angle of the shot moved just a bit to the left to crop a bit off the right and give the shadow "bell" just a bit more room. Very nice that way it is as well.

I really like the shadow play on the wall. The subject is in great focus and the contrast is nice and not overdone.

It's a beautiful image and a clever shot. The hat, glasses, and jacket all work well. So does the lighting. I wonder whether the dark brooding sensibility characteristic of effective blues might not be more accurately expressed if the wall were just a little less starkly bright or the shadow a little less contrasty. The blues trumpeter is being upstaged by his shadow - an apt concept (see also Steely Dan's Deacon Blues "This is the day of the expanding man..." ) but not sure it gives the best visual result. Just thinking out loud. Hope this helps.

I would have voted a higher mark if you had the shadow in focus and allowed the player to be out of focus, this would have given them equal weight and offered the viewer a choice of who to listen to..so to speek.

This is one of my favorites in the challenge. Love the way the shadow complements the figure. Excellent use of light and dark areas as well.

The background on the right seems so close to the shade of the musician's coat... Would like to see it constrated more. The shadow play is very cool.

Cool idea. I would like to see one where it's just a photo of the shadow.

Great photo. Little more of his leg would be better to show his relaxed pose - now there is some unnatural tension...

Outstanding use of lighting! The shadow makes (is) this photo, as does b&w. Great charactor study. Like the grain in it. The spots may be a tad distracting, but gets a high score from me! Well done.
