We were incredibly lucky that Hurricane Michael did not ruin our daughter's wedding, if its path shifted a couple of degrees west, we'd be done. And the heavy rain that was projected for Saturday and Sunday, only arrived Monday, October 15. But boy, did it arrive in earnest! :)

Congratulations on the red, Lev. Great, evocative capture.
After reading your notes I can really relate to this. My daughter's wedding plans (beach wedding) had to be modified because of rain. 250mm over a few hours, but that rain was sideways. The next day was gorgeous and we faked the wedding shots on the beach.

The Oly's always have tempted me, and the newer Panny's too with IBIS.

Neil, thank you! No, it wasn't really exposed, I was mostly shooting from under the awnings. But I know for a fact that weather sealing on Olympus cameras and PRO lenses is amazing - I was once knocked down by a rogue wave in Iceland and washed all over with my camera "on" in my hands. The lenses in the bag were wet, too. Salty water and thin black sand. Everything survived!

thank you Juliet! Actually, we are now eagerly expecting our "official" wedding photos from none other than our very own DPCer Julia Bailey ( grigrigirl)!

Hey Lev, sorry I didn't make any comments in-challenge, but if I had I'd have spoken very enthusiastically about this. I've tried a million times (well, perhaps not quite that many) to get a really good rain photograph. Never got much to write home about. Had I taken this, I'd have written home immediately. It's just what I had always hoped for and never managed, not even close. It's perfect. Thank you!

Somehow I thought this was you when I first viewed it, it reminded me of the Shawshank redemption image, well done. And I̢۪m glad the wedding went well.

I captured a similar image years ago, but it didn't have the same mystique and detail this has - the visual impact is above average, but the subtle touch of color just adds rather than subtract from the over all impact.

I really like how simple but impact this is! Straightest rain in history!
