My title is the title of this artwork. An installation in a container/box but normal size, not miniature. Part of the Ballarat Art Biennale, which has stuff spread about the city, this was situated between the art gallery and the university art faculty.

I am old enough to remember when many families had 'a good room' that was hardly lived in, whilst the rest of the house could barely cope with the needs of the family. They were probably hoping for a visit from the Queen.

very interesting! Thanks for showing this to us.
It reminds me of a family who hosted us when we visited a (... never mind that's not important)
They lived in an all WHITE home decorated like a dollhouse - very similar to this scene. I could hardly imgaine how you can cook in a kitchen that heavily decorated. But they assured me to have a normal life (Grandma and Grandpa, Mom and Dad and a 12 year old son) We were actually provided with a very delicious breakfast.
I can show you some pictures if you're interested.

I like this photo better than the second one. It's airier and deeper. I find it hard to comment on an image of a work of art, except to say that it's well-composed and I enjoy looking at it. That security camera on the ceiling sends a shiver up my spine.

âWill you walk into my parlour?â said the Spider to the Fly,

Ah, both sets of Grandparents had parlours - Sunday rooms to them and 'petting' rooms to my parents. I no longer like pink things!

I think it's the grand-grand-ma's dream. The room that gave value to the host and to the guest. The odd thing is the ceiling painted in the same color as the walls. I always wish I could peep into the past and smell the aroma of the tea, the scones, the madeleines....the grandeur and miseries of the past

Crikey, that's awful. Great picture of it, however. In a few days, I will feel ready to look at the companion view you supplied. Thank you.

Pepto pink. If a room could give one indigestion, this may be it. That being said, it's fascinating! It is complete in its grandma-ness.

I wonder if that security camera was part of the installation (meaning, to be used as a record of viewer reception of the art) or if it was just there to protect against vandalism.

I had a girlfriend who at one time went wild with pink Laura Ashley fabric in her bedroom. Her husband described it as being like living in a pink panty. This is the spiritual cousin of Polly's room.
