Your flip departs only partially from realistic, setting up an interesting visual tension. What I see now is Death about to stand and ski down the slope, so far from the original. I like it, as it engages the imagination.

Straight on images of statues don't do much for me. There needs to be additional elements or a unique angle. Here you have made it your own in post processing. Terrific!
