So... This one really through me for a loop. It was the last couple of hours, I had absolutely no ideas. I kept bugging my husband: "What should I do for duct tape!?"
Yeah -- he was pretty useless.
But then again, so was I.
This wasn't supposed to have a cat in it.
This wasn't supposed to have a shadow in it!
It was just a wine bottle, covered with duct tape with some pussy willows. I was just going to go for the contrasty black and white shot.
But I couldn't get my background to go dark. I didn't seem to be able to adjust my flash low enough. So I put the vase up on a book case, so that the walls were a lot farther away in order to darken the background, and put the flash on the opposite bookcase.
Oh Cool! I like the shadow! but it was on just a sliver of a wall.
Ok, use the duct tape, and tape up some spare mat board. Hey cool shadow!
Moriarty, get down!!
Wait!! No!! Moriarty stay there!
Umm... turn around, all I see is your back.
No... turn around the other way!
Please?
Pretty please!
Whoot! One shot with hum looking towards the vase.
Am I going to get dinged because the duct tape isn't the real and total subject? I don't care -- I really like this shot!
hey cool -- the description of the challenge doesn't say that the duct tape has to be the subject. It just has to be a photo with duct tape!
Awesome!
By the way -- it's really difficult to get a good wrap (with duct tape) around a wine bottle!! And it's starting to unwrap now.
I don't recommend using duct tape in your decorating.

lol .. when i first saw this image i imagined that the cat was a photo bomber .. like who can get a cat to pose .. !! ..
how excellent that moriarty sensed that his presence might add to what you were trying to achieve ..
and yes .. things happening by accident .. often better than the best laid plans .. !! ... ;)
oh .. btw .. CONGRATS on the red .. was one of my favs .. :) |

| beautiful contrasty image .. love the cat's eyes .. and the shadow .. and your imagination in thinking this up and then creating it .. i know how random cat's can be .. so getting this might have been quite difficult .. brilliant .. hope you do very well . :) |
